Group and Workshop FAQS

  • Groups and workshop are designed to complement, not replace, individual therapy. Groups and Workshops enhance the tools you're learning with your therapist, supports those transitioning out of therapy, or provides additional support and reflection for personal growth outside of therapy.

  • It is highly encouraged that you make every effort to attend each group workshop session you are involved in to make the most out of your experience. Part of getting the full benefit is for each member to attend consistently as we strive to support and encourage one another. If for any reason you cannot attend each week, please let Amanda know in advance.

  • No. Selah Counseling is more than happy to send you a super bill after payment is collected if you would like to try and submit your bill to insurance for reimbursement. Your insurance company will be able to answer questions regarding your reimbursement rate.

  • Groups and workshops are typically between 4-8 individuals at most.

  • A therapy group is an ongoing support group where participants come together with a therapist to explore and address personal issues over a longer period of time. In a therapy group, the focus is on building relationships with others who may share similar struggles, providing mutual support, and engaging in therapeutic work as a collective. Therapy groups are often a space for deep emotional processing,  feedback, and learning through shared experiences.

A workshop is a more structured, short series of sessions with a goal to instill practical tools, insights, and psychoeducation. In a therapy workshop, the emphasis is on learning and practicing specific strategies for anxiety, around self esteem building,  or improving body image, while often learning mindfulness techniques.
